Although I’ve done plenty of shows before this one, it was cool because I had always been a big fan and it was my first Pennywise show. It was killer because the venue allowed us to have 18+ and a full bar with everyone in one big room. It is hard to find venues like that nowadays. Jimmy Lindberg, who just permanently left Pennywise as their lead singer, had just quit Pennywise for the first time. Although it did not last long, Jason Thirsk, the old Bass player who had written a lot of the songs, sang for this show and did an awesome job. I remember the venue was pretty cool. The one rule was that no one was allowed on the stage, so of course I told Fletcher this asking him nicely to make sure no one got on the stage. Right before Bro Hymm, Fletcher said “the promoter Ryan White asked for no one on stage… so everybody come on up.” The whole place got on the stage! We ended up with a big fine, but truly it made it a much better show. It was sold out with a 1,500 pit. The band Shrinky Dinx was a punk band from Orange County, who eventually had to change their name because of the toys Shrinky Dinx. They became Sugar Ray, who believe it or not, was a great punk band before they made the one commercial song and sold out to the mainstream. I don’t blame the guys too much. They were a great band…and I miss the old punk band.
