I’ll just tell you a little bit about the trip.
So about a week ago I mentioned trying to get myself back east to Ben LaMay. I wanted to do the last 3 rounds of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Outdoor Championship. Ben was thinking the same thing and we actually booked him a ticket to fly to my house is Southern California. We then loaded up my Sprinter van and proceeded to drive across the country. The next race is in Southwick, MA, it then goes to Delmont, PA, and back to Pala near San Diego, CA. A lot of driving in a matter of 3 weeks.
We left late Monday night around 8 pm and drove through the night to Joseph City, AZ. We were on a mission and didn’t want to stop. The next day we drove about 1,200 miles to a good size town of Joplin, MI. Nothing to exciting happened, except for us singing and rockin out in the van. The next morning we stopped in Rolla, MI and picked up a Toyota girl that works all the Nationals, Chelsea Kearney. I had never met her before and she was willing to hop in a big white van and drive across the country with us two motocross racers! She turned out to be a rad chick and fit in just fine. It definitely made our drive more eventful and we had another person to talk to.
The problems started the following day when we tried to get moving again in Pennsylvania. We woke up and the van wouldn’t start. Somehow it lost its prime and I had to pull the fuel filter and recharge everything. We got it going, and about 2 miles down the road it lost all its power and we were stuck on the side of the freeway. I popped the hood and there was fuel everywhere! Ben and I definitely were worried and weren’t sure if we would be able to get it running again… Good thing we are awesome! It took a little while but she fired up and we finished the drive with no issues!
Southwick is this weekend and its all sand. Its going to be super rough but the weather here in Massachusetts is nice and cool compared to back home. I’ll let you know how it turns out!
