Just got home from the North Shore a few days ago now. Had the hell of a few weeks there! We got pumping, back to back, clean, big swells with really good trade winds so all the spots were pumping pretty much. Had some really good sessions out front of our pad at Rocky lefts and rights, the always fun and playful Camies and all the other usual spots. Probably my best session I had though was one morning out Pipe/Backdoor. It was perfect 8-10ft and not a drop of water out of place. All the boys were out there and it was pretty mellow and I managed to sneak off with a few bombs witch pretty much made my winter!
I competed in the Reef Hawaii Pro at Haleiwa and managed to make a few rounds before getting beaten in the last minute of my heat. We had some good waves for the contest but a lot of on/off heats as far as wave consistency goes which made it really hard to get two good scoring rides. I had the highest scoring wave in my heat up to the last minute but just couldn’t find that back up wave. Seen a lot of people loose, only needing less then 0.5.
Usually I would be over on the North Shore for a bit longer but seeing the forecast was going to be crap and flat for at least 10 days, I decided to bail outta there and get home where there were a couple of good swells hitting. I’m sure Rockitis is setting in real bad for all the lads still over there, haha. I’m going to miss the North Shore really bad though as usually I’d be hanging over there with so many friends!
Home for the summer now, so I will be looking forward to soaking it up with some beers, my mates and family.
Keep you guys posted.
