This past weekend Las Vegas lit up with action sports and music fans and the annual Extreme Thing Festival went underway. All of the top pros in BMX showed up to be a part of the Ricardo Laguna Dirt Challenge. Among those top pros, reppin the spade to the fullest is Colton Satterfield, who not only fights his way to the podium for second place, but also pulls Best Trick on his last set. He was able to 360 back flip no hander on the hardest dirt jump to clear, against some serious wind.
Check out this pic of Colton on the Podium and stay posted for the video footage!
Congrats Colton, can’t wait to see you dominate X-Games this year!
Recap from Colton –
The contest this weekend attracted over 20 k people live with a bunch of larger bands also like The Used. Was all around good time and good vibe throughout the day. The 2 practice days following up Saturday’s contest had no wind and the course was awesome. Come Saturday a big wind storm rolled in and forced the dirt competition into a best trick contest on only the last jump of the course. I think doing this actually made the contest a lot gnarlier considering everyone was trying to huck the biggest trick.
Anyway I ended up being able to pull a 360 backflip no hander, the second one ever done on dirt, myself being the first one to do it earlier last year at Salt Lake Dew Tour. I was pretty damn stoked to be able to get that trick done again on dirt. I ended up grabbing second place, with Dustin Grice in first and James Foster in third.
The entire day had a live internet video feed as well and I was requested by fans typing on there to do an interview. So I also ended up doing about a 15 minute interview. All in the big logo shirt.
So Saturday was sick. I will be going to Woodward next week to ride as much vert as I can. I fly out April 25th to Shanghai for Asian X Games. Stay Spaded!
